Sweet River Bamboo Preschool & Nursery offers year-round childcare enrichment programs.
Our Main Annual Closures: Exact dates are announced every March for the upcoming school year. All closure dates are subject to change.
Autumn Break: Last full week of November, M-F and encompasses parent-teacher conferences the first two days of the week.
Winter Break: (~2 weeks long)- Around the winter holidays. Our first day back from Winter Break is typically the first Tuesday after the new Year.
Mid-Winter Break: Begins with Presidents’ Day and encompasses parent-teacher conferences the rest of the week.
Spring Break: In March, Coincides with Portland Public Schools, M-F
Early Summer Break: Third week of June, M-F
In Service | End of Year Wrap Up + Staff Professional Development Week : Second to last week of August, M-F
Late Summer Break: Last week of August, M-F
Other Scheduled Closures: (Dates change slightly annually, based on when holidays fall within a week.)
Federal Holidays and other closures that do not fall during one of our seasonal breaks:
- Labor Day Monday and the day after
- Indigenous People’s Day Monday
- Veterans Day
- Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Third Monday in January)
- Memorial Day (Last Monday in May) and the preceding Friday
- Juneteenth (June 19th)
- 2 Days around the 4th of July
Additional Closures:
Spring Professional Development day held in April (coincides with a PPS closure) and Winter Staff Appreciation Day held the Friday preceding our Winter Break.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Held twice per year, in November during our Autumn break and in February, during our mid-winter break.
