Sweet River Bamboo Preschool & Nursery offers year-round childcare enrichment programs.
We have 5 main annual closures: Exact dates are announced every August for the upcoming school year. All closure dates are subject to change.
Autumn Break: last full week of November, M-F
Winter Break: (~2 weeks long)- Around the winter holidays. Our first day back from Winter Break is January 2nd or later.
Mid-Winter Break: Begins with Presidents’ Day and encompasses parent-teacher conferences the rest of the week.
Spring Break: In March, Coincides with Portland Public Schools, M-F
Summer Break: Last week of August, M-F
Other Scheduled Closures: (Dates change slightly annually, based on when holidays fall within a week.)
Federal Holidays and other closures that do not fall during one of our seasonal breaks:
- Labor Day Monday and the day after
- The Friday following Indigenous People’s Day (We remain open for that specific Monday holiday)
- The Friday following Veterans Day (We stay open on Veterans Day if it does not fall on a Friday)
- Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Third Monday in January)
- Memorial Day (Last Monday in May)
- Juneteenth Monday
- 2 Days around the 4th of July
Additional Closures:
Staff enrichment days held once per season. School Maintenance Days held twice per year during the Fridays preceding Winter Break and Summer Break. All closures are noted in the yearly calendar.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Held once per year, in February, during our mid-winter break.
